Make Peace With Where You Are
Make peace with where you are.
This mantra has been a recurring topic brought about by the wellness clients I write for. This concept was new and foreign to me as I rarely ever sit still and allow myself to be present with everything around me. I’m always living in the future with my anxiety or falling back in the past with my depression. I’ve been unconsciously doing this mental dance until I realized I was doing this by choice.
I was choosing to sprint forward. I was choosing to tip-toe backward.
What never occurred to me is that I can choose to sit still and acknowledge, where I am in my life is exactly where I need to be. I need to consciously do the work to be at peace with the present; otherwise, I'll never reach a feeling of satisfaction with any accomplishment.
As I am writing this newsletter, I’m thinking of all of the things I am grateful for right now.
My Manhattan studio apartment
My dog
My neighborhood
Deepening current friendships and creating new ones
Not only do I have so much to be grateful for, but I am currently living my dream life of a once lost, hurt, and unhealed Maryann. 2018 Maryann was in constant pain of the past and trying to secure a future with a man who would go a month wearing the same pants every day. I'm so happy those days are behind me as I've now stepped into the future self I've always wanted to be.
Making peace with where you are is finding gratitude in everything you have today and recognizing your former self is in awe of where you are now.
This weekend set up a time to make peace with all you have right now. Write it down. Post about it on IG. Relish in it in any way you can. You deserve to celebrate everything you have right now while also honoring the journey from where you used to be.
Sincerely,
Mary
