This Is Why You’re Never Alone In Your Darkest Moments
I was in a Clubhouse room the other night about ancestral healing.
A big part of my writing process is learning to connect with my ancestors.
I do this because as I’m writing about the trauma, I relive challenging moments.
Connecting with a source outside of me makes me feel safe when I write these complex pieces.
In this Clubhouse room, a spiritual woman talked about all of us breaking generational trauma have this fear of success.
She goes further into how many of us fear reaching success above a certain point because we believe we’ll be persecuted.
It gave me goosebumps because I’ve always been humble to a fault…maybe it’s because I’ve experienced being diminished by my success by jealous friends and ex-partners.
She realized my fear of success is a fear passed down to me from ancestors persecuted for success (i.e., the Cambodian genocide).
This spiritual woman said our ancestors want us to break the Karmic curse.
They are cheering us on and want us to reach our greatest potential.
They want us to live the life we deserve and honor them in the process.
Yes, it’s woo woo to think about spirituality in the writing process, but I believe connecting with our ancestors as we write challenging moments makes this journey less scary.
I believe the urge to speak our truths comes from a place where our ancestors were voiceless.
We’re doing what they couldn’t.
This is why we must write our stories
This is why we matter.
This is why we must live our lives as if our ancestral tribe is cheering us on because they are.
You’re meant to break this cycle of trauma and move forward as the storyteller of your family.
We are never truly alone in our darkest moments.
Our chosen source has always surrounded us to lead us back into the light.
Sincerely,
Mary
