This is How We Deal With Judgment Of Sharing Our Stories
Hi dear friends!
It's been a few weeks since I've written a newsletter!
Let's talk about our fears of judgment when sharing our stories with the world.
First of all, please remember writing our stories is self-advocacy.
It is a practice of boundary setting.
It is a practice of self-empowerment.
So if someone judges, criticizes, or diminishes your act of courage to spread your vulnerability with the world, they are showing you how much they tolerate in their lives đ±
Ooof, yes, this is a harsh truth, I know.
But the reason Iâm speaking towards the behavior of others who diminish us is to show you the way you trigger others with your truths is not a reflection of you.
Itâs a reflection of where someone is on their journey, whether they choose to grow, heal, and step into a path of self-awareness and self-actualization.
Judgment can make you feel invisible but understanding the âwhysâ of someone's negative perception of you paves the way for compassion.
Youâre not responsible for managing the triggers of others when you decide to share your story.
Leave them with compassion and turn towards those who celebrate your courage, vulnerabilities, and speaking your truths.
Remember, those who celebrate who you are, are your dream readers.
Sincerely,
Mary
Writing Tip: Who's Your Dream Reader?
What is the best thing someone can say to you after reading your story? Imagine your dream reader. Imagine the impact you are making on them. How do you want them to feel after reading your story? How do you want to inspire and encourage to be honest, authentic, and true? Putting your story out there can positively influence the lives of others. Yes, we can fear putting our work out there, but what will overweigh this fear is the number of hearts you will touch with your story.
